This ring features a beautiful White Buffalo Cabochon set in fine and sterling silver.
For my fellow rock geeks: White Buffalo is considered by many to be a form of Turquoise but it is actually Dolomite, not Turquoise.
My process: First I cut the fine silver bezel to the size of the stone and soldered it closed. I then soldered the bezel to the 22g sterling silver sheet. The backplate was then cut to shape with a jeweler's saw leaving a small lip around the edge of the bezel. The entire setting was then hand filed smooth. The wire for the band was then cut to size and shaped using a mandrel and hammer. The band was then soldered closed and then soldered to the back of the backplate. The entire ring then took a bath in silver blackener and a tumble in Hone & Highlight to harden and provide a satin finish. The stone was finally set and the ring was given a final cleaning and polish.
Materials: Fine silver, Sterling silver, White Buffalo

Please keep in mind that all pieces of jewelry from Tabby Cat are handmade using natural gemstones. Handmade means that there may be marks from the tools used in the process of making the setting. Natural gemstones are just that- natural. They may have pits in the surface or inclusions visible in transparent and translucent stones. These things just add to the charm of piece.
